Documents of the Khiva Khan's Chancellery were included in the UNESCO International Register« Back
The regular meeting of the International Advisory Committee of the UNESCO Program "Memory of the World" presented archival documents of the Khiva Khan's Chancellery, stored in the Central State Archive of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
From all over the world, 78 applications have been submitted for inclusion in the UNESCO International Register. At the regular meeting of the International Advisory Committee of the UNESCO program, along with 78 countries with a rich history Uzbekistan's application for archival documents of the Khiva Khan's Chancellery took the 3rd place and awarded with an international certificate.
The ceremony of presenting this document took place in the business center "Poytakht".
The event was attended by the heads of the agency "Uzarhiv" under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the staff of the UNESCO office in Uzbekistan, the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi, the International Charity Public Foundation "Oltin meros", the Ministry of Culture, the Khorezm Academy of Ma’mun, the International Islamic Academy, the Museum-Reserve "Ichan-Kala", the Institute of History and the Institute of Oriental Studies named after Abu Rayhan Beruni of the Academy of Sciences, professors-teachers of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek, Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies, young researchers and scope.
In the Central State Archive of the Republic of Uzbekistan at present more than 3 thousand archival funds are kept. 170 thousand out of 1 million 700 thousand units of the national archive fund are especially valuable archival documents. The documents of the fund, covering the period of the end of the XVII - early XX centuries and reflecting the state management system, social, economic, cultural and educational life in Khiva Khanate, refer to the history not only of Central Asia, but also of a number of foreign states.
The documents kept in the Central State Archive of the Republic of Uzbekistan consist of 1268 items of storage and more than 20 thousand sheets.
In the reports of outstanding scientists and young researchers studying the history of the Khiva Khanate based on primary sources, new information related to the history of the Khanate was provided.
During the event, a historical documentary exhibition was organized on the basis of the original archival documents of the Khiva Khan's Chancellery.
It demonstrated diplomatic correspondence of the Khiva Khan with the consul of England, a friendly letter from the Emir of Afghanistan Abdurahmankhan to Khiva Khan Muhammad Rahimkhan, citizens' appeals to the khan, passports of Khivans to go abroad.
